The essentials in 30 seconds

The four phases to set up a web design agency: understand the business, build, sell and optimize

Paso 1: decide a quién vas a ayudar

  • Hostelería y turismo: carta, reservas e idiomas.
  • Comercio: catálogo, tienda online y pedidos.

Paso 2: tu oferta y tus precios, in writing

Servicio What's included Cómo se cobra
The website Diseño, construcción, textos básicos, móvil, formularios y puesta en marcha Single payment
Maintenance Actualizaciones, copias de seguridad, vigilancia y pequeños cambios Monthly fee
Crecimiento SEO, contenidos, campañas o automatizaciones Monthly fee

  5. Review with the client, with an agreed number of rounds.
  6. Delivery and training so that they can change texts and images.
  7. Maintenance proposal on the same day of delivery.

The material, before starting

Texts, photos, logo and access. If you start building without them, the project stops halfway and no one gets paid. Ask for the material as part of the first step, not when you already need it.

Where it fits in artificial intelligence

AI does not replace the designer, but it changes how long you take on each task. Used well, it helps you on two fronts:

  • In the production of each website: drafts of texts, images and graphic pieces, code snippets and technical revisions, always with your judgment on top.
  • In agency management: proposals, budgets, client follow-up and reports in much less time.
  • In automation: flows that respond to a new contact, schedule follow-up or prepare the monthly report.

The key is knowing how to ask for what you need with precise instructions and always reviewing the result. An unreviewed generated text is noticeable, and the client notices it too.

Errores frecuentes when setting up an agency

  • Charging by the hour without knowing how many. The client wants a fixed price, and you need to know if the project is worth it for you.
  • Saying yes to everything. Every change outside of what was agreed upon is time you don't get paid for.
  • Deliver and disappear. Without maintenance, every month you start from scratch looking for new projects.
  • Not having a portfolio. Your first websites, even if they are for acquaintances, are your best calling card.
  • Keeping the client's keys. The domain, hosting and website must be in their name. That builds trust, it doesn't take it away.

If you are interested in understanding well which part of the work is design and which is development, and which one is convenient to offer, in web design or web development: how they differ I explain it with examples.

Learning it with a method from start to finish

All this is what I teach in the Academy, where I explain the complete method for setting up your agency: six courses ranging from understanding the market to your first published website, getting clients and getting paid, making websites that rank and convert, creating your own plugins and adapting the website to each sector. All in Skool, with a weekly group call with me.

Knowing how to make websites is not enough: you have to know how to sell them. Without a commercial method, without clear prices and without monthly services, the technique does not become a business.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know how to program to set up a web design agency?

Not to start. With WordPress and Elementor you can deliver professional websites without writing code. Learning to program opens the door to custom developments and your own plugins, but that's a later step.

Is it better to start as a freelancer or as an agency?

Almost all small agencies start as one person. The difference is not in how many you are, but in working with a process, a clear offer and monthly services. That's what allows you to grow later.

How long does it take to get the first client?

It depends on your network of contacts, your area and the time you dedicate to finding them. What speeds things up the most is having a clear offer and two or three real projects to show.

Can I start while working on something else?

Yes, it's the most common. An organized process allows you to handle a few well-done projects with the time you have, and grow as more come in.

Do you want to learn the trade with a method?

The Academy hasn't opened yet, but the waiting list has. Sign up and I'll notify you first, by email, on the day it opens.
